Cook it... 50s style

Pork fillet with mushrooms

A friend of mine gave me this 50s cookbook as a birthday present. Thing is, my birthday was in january... ahem. So time to finally start cooking!
Here is what I made:

Take a pork fillet or two and cover them with mosterd. Leave to marinate for two hours.

Then heat up some butter in a pan and fry the pork until nice and brown. Sprinkle the contents of the pan with a bit of flour ( 1 tablespoon). Add the following: 1 glas of red wine, 350g chopped mushrooms, 2 chopped up onions.

Your dish should look like this, roughly.
Place the lid on the pan and leave to simmer for 30min.
This is how it looked after:
Season with salt, pepper and freshly chopped parsley. Take out the pork fillet, cut it in thick slices. Serve with the sauce and a fresh green salad. Enjoy!
Really easy, wasn't it? Will try some more recipes. If all of them are so easy and yummy I' ll have a new favourite cookbook.

I like the illustration on your vintage cookbook. Your meal is looking rather delicious. Using mustard to marinate meat is a good idea.
